Million Dollar Steak Sliders w/ Pickled Red Onions & Cabernet Syrup

Preparation

Sliders

  1. Cut Monterey steak into 2 ounce portions. Pound gently to shape. Season with salt and pepper and sear on a hot griddle to medium rare. Top with goat cheese and cover to melt.
  2. Dredge pickled red onions in seasoned flour and fry to crisp.
  3. Place steak on grilled bun and top with fried onion. Drizzle with Cabernet syrup.

Pickled Red Onions

  1. Bring vinegar and sugar to a boil and stir to dissolve. Add onions and simmer about 15 minutes, stirring often.

Cabernet Syrup

  1. Combine wine, vinegar and sugar in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Simmer on low for about 4-5 minutes until reduced to syrup consistency, making about 1.5 cups.
