Founder/baker, Fox in the Snow, Columbus, Ohio
Why she's one to watch
Having opened Columbus' Fox in the Snow alongside her husband, Culley has gone on to open two additional locations of this popular bakery.
Her culinary philosophy
"At the bakery, we try to keep things simple. All our recipes have very few ingredients; we aim to keep all our baked goods recognizable and familiar. I always say we're shooting for elevated accessible: pastries I grew up with or that everyone knows, but the best version of it you've ever had."
One woman who has inspired her throughout the years
For Culley, it's her mom who has offered consistent inspiration. "My mom has always encouraged me to pursue what made me happy even when it wasn't conventional and even when it seemed scary,” she says. “She's an incredible woman who has done the most amazing job of making me feel capable and brave at every turn. My path to baking and to owning shops was not direct at all. It had a number of different twists and turns and was years in the making. My mom always made me feel like the journey was okay and that the outcome would be wonderful."
Graduate of Ohio State’s creative writing program. Fox in the Snow was named one of Food & Wine's 2019 “Best Coffee Shops in America.”
