Diana Dávila
Chef/owner, Mi Tocaya Antojería, Chicago
Why she’s one to watch
Dávila’s dedication to tradition provides an authentic base for her Mexican heritage-driven cuisine.
Her culinary philosophy
“Paying homage to the generations of women who have shaped this cuisine; instead of manipulating ingredients, harmonize them and be intuitive in doing so. And lastly, to use your imagination.”
One woman who has inspired her throughout the years
Though Dávila is a certified connoisseur of the culinary world, she’s intriguingly found inspiration in a print icon. “Diana Vreeland, a former fashion editor and editor-in-chief of Vogue in the 1960s and early 1970s. She was a woman who was so ahead of her time. She was a true visionary and it seemed like she was always in constant movement,” Dávila says.
