
Deep Fried Whoopie Pie w/ Southern Pecan Praline Sauce

INGREDIENTS
FRY BATTER
- 2 Eggs
- 2 C Milk
- 1 Tbsp Canola oil
- 1 tsp Baking powder
- 1 Pinch of salt
- 4 C. Oil (for deep frying)
PRALINE SAUCE
- 1 C Firmly packed brown sugar
- ½ C Half-and-half
- ½ C Butter or margarine
- ½ C Chopped pecans
- ½ tsp Vanilla extract
PREPARATION
- Mix eggs, milk, canola oil, baking powder and salt in a mixing bowl and set to the side. Dip whoopee pies in the batter. In a preheated fryer at 350 degrees with deep frying oil, add whoopie pie in fryer for two minutes or until golden. Remove and place on paper towel until all pies are fried.
- Next, combine brown sugar, Half-and-‐half and butter/margarine in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil; cook, stirring constantly for one minute. Remove from heat. Stir in pecans and vanilla. Cool slightly. Serve warm over fried whoopie pie. Garnish with whipped cream and mint.
