Reinhart Milestones
1972
  • D.B. Reinhart opened Reinhart Institutional Foods as an extension of Gateway Foods, his wholesale grocery distribution business.
1976
  • Initial 8,000 square foot distribution center was constructed in La Crosse, WI.
1980
  • Acquired Thoreson Food Service in Shawano, Wisconsin, and established the Reinhart Shawano distribution center.
1983
  • Our Reinhart USDA Inspected Processing Center was one of the first meat centers nationally to be approved by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for its Total Quality Control Program.
1984
  • Acquired Marshall Fruit & Produce in Marshall, Minnesota, and established the Reinhart Marshall distribution center.
  • Acquired C & L Supply Company which launched our entry into the equipment, supply, layout and design capabilities.
1985
  • Acquired Portion Control from Milwaukee Cheese Company in Marquette, Michigan, and established the Reinhart Marquette distribution center.
1986
  • Healthy Horizon Healthcare Program was implemented.
1987
  • Acquired Walters Foods in New Berlin, Wisconsin.
  • Reinhart FoodService is recognized nationally by ID Magazine as the industry's 20th largest broad line distributor.
1988
  • Acquired Dernehl-Taylor Co. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
  • Founding member of Distributor Marketing Alliance (DMA), a national chain-account marketing group.
1989
  • D.B. Reinhart sells Gateway Foods, which was the largest independently owned wholesale grocer in the United States, to focus solely on foodservice.
  • Founding member of All Kitchen's Emerald Group, a national purchasing and marketing company.
1990
  • Joined Markon, the largest foodservice only, fresh produce buying and marketing cooperative in the nation.
  • Introduced our Timely, Reliable, Accurate Customer Service (TRACS) software program.
1991
  • Opened state-of-the-art distribution center in Milwaukee.
1994
  • Acquired Jeannette Foodservice, Greensburg, Pennsylvania, and established the Reinhart Greensburg distribution center.
1995
  • Acquired Midwest Foodservice Distributors in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and established the Reinhart Cedar Rapids distribution center.
1996
  • Acquired the bakery ingredient distribution business of Sugar Incentives, Minneapolis, Minnesota, positioning Reinhart FoodService as a full-line bakery supplier.
1997
1999
  • Opened state-of-the-art distribution center in Rogers, Minnesota.
2000
  • Acquired Weis Foodservice, Sunbury, Pennsylvania, and established the Reinhart Sunbury distribution center.
2002
  • 30 years providing quality, service and value in the foodservice industry
  • The Reinhart Greensburg distribution center relocated to its Mt. Pleasant, PA facility and established the Reinhart Pittsburgh distribution center, which includes it's own USDA inspected meat processing center.
  • Opened Reinhart FoodService Omaha, serving major restaurant chain business.
2003
  • Acquired the food service division of MDS of Detroit, Michigan and established the Reinhart Detroit distribution center.
2004
  • Acquired the Louisville, Kentucky distribution center of King Provisions, servicing major chain restaurants in the surrounding area.
2005
2006
  • JANUARY - Opened Reinhart FoodService Richmond serving major restaurant chain business. Opened new, state-of-the-art distribution center in Shamokin, PA.
  • APRIL - Acquired Frank J. Catanzaro Sons and Daughters, Inc. in Cincinnati, Ohio, and established the Reinhart Cincinnati distribution center.
  • APRIL - Acquired King Provision in Jacksonville, Florida, and established Reinhart Jacksonville; our 15th distribution center.
  • MAY - Acquired King Provision in Atlanta, Georgia, and established the Reinhart Atlanta distribution center.
  • JUNE - Acquired Burlington Foodservice Company in Colchester, Vermont and established the Reinhart Burlington distribution center.
  • JULY - Acquired Food Services of America in Omaha, Nebraska, expanding our current Reinhart Omaha Division and extending broadline distribution.
